Science Fiction Unit
Research - Lite

During these last weeks of school, students will be writing a mini-research paper. Students will be asked to read selected pieces that will answer one of the following three prompts:

●    Do you believe in aliens or extraterrestrial life?

●    Is human cloning ethical? OR Should we be able to clone humans without any regulations?

●    Which new/breaking technology will have the biggest impact in the future?

Learning Targets:

Synthesize information to write an essay.
Cite sources using NoodleBib.

Process:

Students will choose which question to explore. Using the sources that have been selected students will write an short essay answering one of the three questions. Students will be required to use two sources to support their answer. Students will use proper MLA rules - works cited page, internal citations, and format - to complete the paper.

Requirements:

  • one page
  • at least two quotes (one from each source)
  • works cited page

Electronic Resources: all resources are available from home

Norski Guide - will be used to access all selected articles and can be found on the LMC website
NoodleBib - will be used to create citations for articles and can be found on the LMC website
Turnitin.com - will be used to submit the paper
GoogleDocs - will be used to write the essay
