Collecting Sources

Sources for your research can include books, articles, websites, and more!  All of these sources are intended to expand your knowledge of your selected topic.  Keep some things in mind as you collect sources:

ORGANIZATION: Notice what headings are used in your sources.  These can be useful search terms and may help you organize your information from multiple sources.  Be sure to write your own headings to organize your work.

AUTHORITY: Scan the texts for important information.  When you notice that two sources disagree, try to locate a third source that agrees with one of the two or decide which of the two original sources has more authority (Who published the information and what is their goal?).

BIBLIOGRAPHY: Keeping track of where you found your information is important.  Be sure to collect titles, authors, dates, and links so you can revisit articles and sites if needed AND so that your research includes a bibliography crediting the sources you used.
